My research is focussed on thermal barrier coatings for turbine blades. Before joining the Clarke lab I worked as a machine operator in the aerospace fastener industry and served in the US army as a special operations helicopter crewmember. I have also been involved with numerous early stage startups, most recently as CTO / cofounder of TrekFresh where I developed durable virucidal textile treatments based on silver nanoparticles in response to the COVID pandemic. My hobbies perennially include gem prospecting (ask me about my mining claim in California), rock climbing, and anything else that gets me outdoors.
