Andrew’s research focuses on developing more effective thermal barrier coatings for turbines to enable hotter, more efficient engines. This work includes characterizing and modifying optical and thermal properties of ceramic materials, as well as studying heat transfer and radiation propagation within composite systems. Prior to joining Professor Clarke’s lab, Andrew received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University, where he studied water purification and passive radiative cooling technologies, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut.
