Charles Fontaine
Charles’ five-month research program focuses on developing more effective thermal barrier coatings and low oxygen diffusivity layers for gas turbines to enable hotter, more efficient engines. This critical work includes meticulously characterizing and modifying the material composition of advanced ceramics to find the most efficient configuration possible. Ultimately, these optimizations aim to significantly reduce thermal degradation and improve overall engine lifespan.
He is currently completing a Master of Engineering in Energy Engineering in Lyon (INSA Lyon). Prior to that, he earned a bachelor’s degree in applied physics at the Annecy Institute of Technology (IUT d’Annecy) in the French Alps, where he specialized in materials science and thermodynamics.
