Georgios Koutsakis received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin—Madison Engine Research Center in 2022. His research goal was to develop techniques to maximize in-cylinder heat insulation while ensuring coating durability under the extreme conditions of a diesel engine. He was awarded the SAE Myers Award for Outstanding Student Paper in 2020. In the Clarke group, his research focuses on characterizing and modeling radiative and conductive heat transfer of high temperature radiation barrier oxide coatings for aerospace applications.
